AWO Participate in the event of launching of Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women Empowerment

 Ambassador Mervat Tallawy, DG of AWO has participated in the launching of Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women Empowerment. The Event was held as a side event at the CSW61 on 13 March 2017.

The launching of the award at global level was a result of its success at the national level. The award comprises 3 awards directed to the public sector, private sector and civil society and individuals

The award aims to ensure commitment of countries, official agencies and organizations, through their legislative, public and private executive authorities as well as the civil society, to adopting non-discriminatory policies against women and achieving justice in equal opportunities between women and men in various fields. It also aims to highlight and appreciate the institutional and individual efforts, initiatives and projects.

On the sidelines of the event, AWO DG met his highness Shaiek Khaled Bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, foreign minister of Bahrain to discuss means of supporting AWO work through the Arab group. The attendees of the meeting were Dr. Maya Morsi, Head of NCW in Egypt, Mrs. Basima Haqawi, minister of woman and Rep. of Morocco in AWO executive council and Ambassador Laila BahaEldin.
