ABC of Women’s Rights in Arab Legislations

It is an ambitious project aiming at developing an electronic database that includes a wide list of legal questions and answers (Q & A) pertaining to Arab Women’s rights in different legal fields (e.g.: Personal Status, Economic, Social and Political). The database is designed to include flexible, short and precise questions and to provide legal answers in a direct, easy and concise way to facilitate its understanding and benefit the largest possible sector of women in the Arab region.
Legal experts from the Arab member states are assigned to follow up on any new or amended legislations within their countries to update the answers, as this is essential to the success and continuity of this project.
This project is divided into 3 main phases
  • The 1st phase includes a compilation of a database that incorporates Q & A in 3 fields: Personal Status for Muslims, Economic and Social Rights, Political Rights.
    Data is available now .
  • The 2nd phase includes Q & A in Personal Status laws for Christians.
Data of this stage will be available by the mid of 2013.
  • The 3rd phase includes constructing a database with Q & A in Jews’ Personal Status.
Working in this stage will start during the year 2013.
