Under the Presidency of the Arab Republic of Egypt
On Monday, May 5, 2025, the 10th General Conference of the Arab Women Organization (AWO) will commence under the theme:
Women & Girls in the Cyber and AI Era: Connecting..Empowering..Protecting
This 10th edition is presided over by the Arab Republic of Egypt , which currently holds the organization’s presidency for the 2023–2025 term . The event will take place in Cairo on May 5–6, 2025.
The conference will host high-level official delegations from Arab countries, representatives from the League of Arab States, ambassadors of foreign nations , members of AWO’s advisory committees , and invitees from *nternational organizations, UN agencies, and regional institutions with shared interests, as well as experts and specialists in the conference’s subject matter.
Conference Structure and Key Topics:
The conference will include six working sessions, where 26 experts from Arab countries will present scientific papers addressing cyber violence against women and girls and strategies to combat it. Discussions will cover fundamental concepts, legislative and legal frameworks, national and international experiences, and the role of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in protecting women .
Additionally, the conference features two roundtables:
1. The first roundtable will discuss the intermediary responsibility of civil society, corporations, and global digital platforms in protecting women and girls from cyber violence, with participation from representatives of international online platforms .
2. The second roundtable will focus on the role of international and UN partnerships in enhancing the protection of women and girls from cyber violence , featuring representatives from relevant UN agencies and other international entities* .
Conference Highlights:
The conference will witness:
- The announcement of AWO’s new cycle of the "Arab Girls and Technology Award – 2025."
- The launch of a training manual prepared by AWO, titled "A Training Guide on the Methodology for Preparing National Reports Submitted to the Regional Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW)."
