The Arab Women Organization (AWO) is holding the second training workshop in its pioneering program (Building National Capacities on Elections observation from a Gender Perspective) via the Zoom application, from 13-15 September 2021.
The program aims to prepare (national observers) in the field of elections observation from a gender perspective in the Arab countries by building the capacities of workers in relevant bodies, as well as media professionals.
Prof. Dr. Fadia Kiwan, Director-General of AWO, stated that the program aims at forming units within each national mechanism concerned with women issues in the Arab countries, to be consisted of specialized employees in monitoring national elections.
The program consists of three integrated workshops targeting each group of trainees for the purpose of accumulating the required capacities. The first workshop was held last June and provided a general theoretical and conceptual introduction to the subject, while the second workshop should discuss complaints, appeals and judicial reviews.
25 trainees from six Arab countries should participate in the upcoming workshop, from Jordan - Tunisia - Palestine - Lebanon - Morocco - Mauritania.
